Frequently Asked Questions:

Ans: Coffee pot measures just 14 inches.

Ans: No, you don't have to use the charcoal filter. It just filters the water before it hits the grounds in the basket. But no, it is not necessary for the function of the coffeemaker.

3.Why won't the lid drain?

Ans: Not only does the lid not drain without effort to empty from the smaller hole, but the pot also won't completely empty without extra effort to ensure it is empty.

4.is the clock backlit so you can see it in low light?

Ans:
No. But the Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System, Black/Stainless is and it also has three settings for how hot you want the carafe to stay, a 4-6 cup super hot brew for little brews (under twelve so you get the most out of the grind). Frequently Asked Questions:

1.Can you take the carafe out and pour a cup of coffee before it is totally finished brewing (without it continuing to drip)?

Ans: Yes you can pour a cup of coffee before it is totally finished brewing. It does not drip. Once you return the carafe it just finishes filling. There is no problem with a drip. Per the instructions. It tells you it is ok to do and it works perfectly

2.is the carafe glass or stainless steel?

Ans: Yes, it has a glass carafe.

3.how is the brew time?

Ans: With a new machine, about 10 min.

4.what is the factory warranty?

Ans: The warranty is useless. The warmer plate coating peels off and the heating plate completely rusts; Cuisinart considers this normal wear and tear and will not cover under warranty.

5.Has cleaning the machine improved at all?

Ans: It was easy if that is what you mean by improved. My husband ran it over and burned some coffee so the machine had an odor. Simple cleaning with white vinegar and water according to the directions was easy and effective.

6.Can you just place a mug where the carafe goes to make just one cup?

Ans: It is NOT designed for anything to receive the coffee except the carafe that comes with the unit. The design of the Cuisinart requires that the carafe is in place which contacts a ball-like switch that allows the brewed coffee to drip/drain into the carafe. If the carafe is not in place, such as would occur when pouring a cup of coffee in the middle of a brew cycle, the ball-like switch cuts off flow so that it does not drip onto the hot warmer plate.

7.Is the silver made differently from the white?

Ans: I ordered the black and stainless. I wouldn't really call it silver. I love my Cuisinart Coffee maker. Highly recommend it.
